Level of Information Need LOIN

What is it?

LOIN is the level of information need: for every element type at every stage, how much geometric detail (LOD) and which properties must be present.

Why it matters

Without a clear line, one party models detail nobody needs and another leaves important data empty. LOIN says exactly what is needed, no more and no less.

How it works in EDC

EDC fills the table with starting values for every element and stage, and the manager edits them. The table becomes IDS rules, and the model check shows what each element is missing at the current stage.
