Who they work with on EDC
Who they are and what they do

The factory makes parts of the building off site and sends them ready: precast slabs and columns, cut-and-bent rebar, aluminium windows or MEP modules. It must make each piece to the right size and deliver in the order the site will install.

Parts are made to the millimetre weeks before they reach site, so a late drawing change means a scrapped piece. They also need to know when site is ready to receive.

How EDC helps them

In EDC the factory takes sizes straight from the model and the approved shop drawings, and tracks every piece on the production line with a QR code. Site sees whether each piece is made and when it arrives, and confirms installation on the model.

They always work from the latest approved revision, and are told before cutting if a drawing changes. Each piece has a QR tying it to its element on the model, so they know when it arrived and where it was installed.

What you can do
  • Take sizes from the model and approved shop drawings
  • Track each piece with a QR code
  • Deliver in installation order
What you gain
  • No piece made to the wrong size
  • Production planned to the site's pace
  • Fewer pieces waiting in the yard
