Who they work with on EDC
Who they are and what they do

The fire engineer designs and checks alarm, sprinkler and suppression systems, emergency exits and escape distances. They prepare the civil defence file and attend its tests before the building opens.

Without the civil defence certificate the building cannot be occupied, and any comment from them sends work back. A mistake in a fire system can cost lives.

How EDC helps them

In EDC sprinklers, smoke detectors and emergency exits show on the model, where they can review coverage and distances. Any clash with air conditioning or the ceiling goes to the designer at its spot.

Pressure and alarm tests are logged floor by floor with results and photos, and the civil defence file builds itself from them. Their comments are closed on the element until approval.

What you can do
  • Review coverage and exits on the model
  • Log fire tests floor by floor
  • Prepare the civil defence file
What you gain
  • Civil defence approval the first time
  • Fewer clashes in the ceiling
  • A safer building for people
