Who they work with on EDC
Who they are and what they do

The structural engineer designs the frame that carries the building: foundations, columns, beams and slabs, and sets the concrete sizes and rebar. During construction they check rebar shop drawings and answer site problems.

The safety of the building and the people in it is their responsibility. Any crack, change on site or weak cube result comes back to them to decide: safe, needs strengthening, or must come down.

How EDC helps them

In EDC they see the structural model with its elements and quantities, and check shop drawings made from the model. Any problem such as honeycombing or a crack reaches them with a photo and location, and they reply with an approved fix kept as a lesson.

Every column and beam on the model carries its history: the pour, the cubes, the snags and the changes. The EDC Assistant suggests likely causes of a crack and fix steps, and they review and approve, so the decision is engineered and recorded.

What you can do
  • Review rebar shop drawings from the model
  • Answer site problems with an approved fix
  • See concrete and rebar quantities per element
What you gain
  • Faster answers, less waiting on site
  • Fixes saved for the next project
  • Fewer shop-drawing mistakes
